macOS Big Sur removes Power Saving section from System Preferences

Big Sur macOS

We are learning about the news that the new version of macOS will bring, presented at the WWDC Keynote held last Monday. Being already available the first beta for developers, the novelties that this version will present next autumn are becoming known. One of the characteristics found has been that with macOS Big Sur Removed Energy Saving section which was in System Preferences.

New battery feature in macOS Big Sur

macOS Big Sur, unveiled last Monday as the new macOS that will be included on all compatible Macs, brings many news. The most important is to be the vehicle for Apple's transition to ARM. But there are other novelties that should not be overlooked. For example, it has been known that the Energy Saving section has been changed and it will be called simply: “Battery”.

This is because the information provided with this new function is much broader than simply being able to manage battery life. Now we can see a usage history that provides details about the battery life of the Mac over the course of the last 24 hours or the last 10 days. Also broken down by battery level and Screen in use so you can see how the battery is doing.

As well sections have been found for:

  • El power adapter. It replaces the energy saving functionality.
  • We can choose cwhen to turn off the screen, enable or disable sleep mode.
  • Split settings for Mac battery usage when it is connected or not to the current.
  • We continue with the programming function.
  • In the menu bar, clicking the battery icon now gets a estimated remaining battery life, a feature that was removed from MacOS Sierra in 2016.
  • The battery icon in the menu bar also shows apps that use a lot of power, like in macOS Catalina, and offers an option to open Battery Preferences.
  • There doesn't seem to be an option to display the current battery life percentage directly in the menu bar.

Query, do you have a compatibility problem with programs, like what happened with Catalina?

Lie. You can view the battery percentage by entering “System Preferences” –> “Dock and Menu Bar” –> Battery –> mark battery percentage.

I don't understand how you release certain items without really knowing if you can or not. You take certain things for granted that over time remain portrayed to you.
