macOS High Sierra allows us to configure whether we share information with Apple to improve the system

MacOS High Sierra

We released the final version of macOS High Sierra since yesterday, with more news than you might expect at first. Little by little we discovered new or semi-hidden functions to which we did not have access from the information provided by Apple on its website. But not everything is improvements for the user, Apple wants to collect data to improve the information or feedback from developers, but also for its own interest. This action should not be bad if it is managed well, in fact something similar was carried out last year with iOS 10. With this it intends the continuous improvement of our services and applications.

However, how could it be otherwise, we can choose if we want to share our information with Apple, despite the company ensuring that in the "transport" of information, Apple applies a certain noise that makes our information unreadable until it reaches the company's servers.

Apple's main source of information is Safari. This does not pretend to know which page is most popular for a certain sector. Instead, yes what is interested in knowing which pages are more problematic, on the one hand, in relation to advertising, but more so in those that produce malfunctions in the browser or applications. Depending on the problem in question, introduce certain actions in future updates.

On the one hand, when we install or update our operating system, Apple asks us if we want to share information to improve the applications. Now we will see how to modify these parameters in macOS High Sierra. For it:

  • We must access PrSystem references.
  • Search and click on Security and Privacy.
  • In the left sidebar, we will see in the last option: Meta. We click on it.
  • Now, on the right side, we will see three options for sharing information: Share Mac analytics, share with App developers, share iCloud analytics.

If we see options disabled, as in the background, press the padlock in the lower left and unlock. This level of detail is the novelty of macOS High Sierra, allowing us to select what information we want to share and what not.
