macOS High Sierra will not offer support for Office 2011, it's time to update

As the days go by, little by little we are getting to know new developments related to the new versions of the operating systems that will reach all the devices of the Cupertino-based company starting in September. But this is not all good news, as AppleInsider has personally verified that the next version of macOS High Sierra will only be compatible with versions of Office 2016 onwards, not allowing the execution of the previous version, Office 2011, a version of Office that will continue to work without any problem in the current version of macOS and earlier.

Being the first beta of macOS High Sierra, like the rest of the operating systems, the current operation of most of the applications used regularly is not entirely correct, since their performance is much slower than one would expect, a performance partly logical being a beta. According to the notice shown by macOS High Sierra, in order to run Office on our Mac with the next version of the Mac operating system, you will need version 15.35 or later, while if we have version 15.34 or earlier, our office suite will stop working.

This version number has been confirmed through Microsoft's support page without specifying the reason. Being a beta it is likely that in the end, after all, Office 2011 continues to work, it would not be the first time that we put the cry in the sky with a beta and then absolutely nothing happens. In the same support note that Microsoft has published, the company states that they have not yet tested the compatibility of Office 2011 with macOS High Sierra. When it comes to testing the guys from AppleInsider they had not migrated to the new file system, APFS, so the main justification for this problem is ruled out.
