Microsoft buys Nuance, which would be Siri's "parents"

Nuance

Apple released Siri on the iPhone 4S and the company Nuance dedicated to speech recognition technology was in charge of providing the voice-to-text interpretation for processing, so we can say that they were the parents of the Apple assistant.

Now Microsoft that a few days ago announced the end of its Cortana assistant for iOS and other devices acquired the Nuance company for $ 19.700 billion. This investment made by Satya Nadella's company could be related to the development of another assistant.

A couple of years ago there was a relationship between Nuance and Microsoft in which worked on the development of the Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare platform. So the Redmond company's current investment with Nuance appears to be directly focused on improving health data collection and the cloud. And there is no other apparent reason in this regard unless they do not put aside the idea of launching another assistant. On the positions of executives and others at Nuance, at least for the moment there are no changes. The companies will merge in the next few days.

For now This investment by Microsoft would be the second largest in its history after the purchase of LinkedIn last year 2016, which is not right now to launch rockets after the news of the massive hack of its users. This news has nothing to do with the hacking issue, of course.
