The conference that Microsoft had to carry out on May 19 and which lasts for 3 days remains canceled due to coronavirus outbreak, Covid-19. The big events are being canceled well in advance and if we already talked a few days ago about the Apple keynote for the end of March that is not going to take place, the WWDC is still hanging by a thread.
And is that the big Google conferences, FaceBook, E3 and the rest of sporting events are being canceled unceremoniously to prevent the further spread of the virus, in the case of Apple's developer conference held in June we shouldn't have a problem as there is a long way to go, but the Covid-19 epidemic suggests that it could reach suspend.
For now, the one that does confirm its suspension is Microsoft. There is no doubt that this is a global crisis and that, as it well warns Paul Thurrott on his Twitter account, the conferences bring together thousands of developers from all over the world and it was clearly illogical to go ahead with it. So we add another one to the list and we continue to hope that everything returns to normal as soon as possible to avoid more cancellations than we are already having.
Surely, in case everything stabilizes again in the next few days, companies will try to "fit" the suspended conventions into their annual calendar, but for now what we are clear about is that the measures taken by Microsoft and the other large multinationals they are correct. Santa Clara County, which includes Cupertino and San Jose in its area, recently banned all mass gatherings for the next three weeks.
