The Visual Studio update that integrates compatibility with Apple's M1 is number 1.54, version that is already available as universal versionIn other words, users will download a single file whether it is to be installed on a computer managed by an Intel processor or by an Apple Silicon.

Macs with M1 chips can now use VS Code without emulation with Rosetta, and will notice better performance and longer battery life when running VS Code. Thanks to the community for self-hosting with the Insiders build and for reporting issues early in the iteration.

If you would like to download this new version you can do it directly from the Visual Studio Code webpage via this link. Microsoft launched this code editor in 2017 for macOS, an application that little by little has been gaining more followers within the Apple ecosystem.
