Apple opted for USB-C for the first time in its 2015 MacBook, more than 3 years ago. Despite the time passed Accessories that take full advantage of USB-C's strengths are rare, and prices remain high compared to conventional USB.
Moshi has just presented new accessories oriented to USB-C and among them we have been able to test this XNUMX meter charging cable with sensational finishes and built in resistant materials that guarantee its durability at a very interesting price. We tell you our impressions below.
It is a USB-C to USB-C cable with Power Delivery 3.0 that will allow us to charge up to 60W, so we can use them to recharge our MacBook without any problem using official Apple chargers (or others), as well as any other device compatible with this type of connection. Made with Kevlar Dupont and with anodized aluminum connectors We can subject the cable to the most intensive use that we can imagine without problems, being much more durable than traditional Apple plastic cables and supporting up to more than 10.000 torsion cycles. Obviously I have not tested this end, but I can say that the all-touch feeling is of being a very resistant and well manufactured cable.
Something very important to consider with these USB-C cables is the type of data transmission protocol. Just as not all USB-C support Power Delivery, not all USB-C are USB3.0 or 3.1. This is the case of this Moshi cable, which does support Power Delivery and that is why it allows us to charge our MacBook, but in terms of data transfer it remains in USB 2.0 specifications with transfer speeds of 480 Mbps. It is an ideal cable to use as a recharging cable and carry it in our backpack, including even a velcro to keep it well collected, but for data transfer it can fall short depending on the speed we need. In this sense, it is the same as the official Apple cable, also USB 2.0, which has a higher price.
Editor's opinion
This USB-C Integra cable from Moshi is ideal to use as an alternative to the official Apple cable for both performance and price. Constructed with ultra-resistant materials, durability is something that is guaranteed and supporting loads of up to 60W you can recharge your MacBook, Nintendo Switch or smartphones and tablets with this type of connector without problems. Its only negative point is being USB 2.0, so you will not be able to take advantage of all the benefits that this type of ports offer in Apple MacBooks. Available in the official Moshi store at this link for € 19,95 with free shipping on orders over € 60, it is cheaper than the official Apple cable, also made with more conventional materials.
