The transfer of part of the production of MacBook and iPad from China to Vietnam is something that we have been hearing for some time and that is Apple wants production not to be integrated in China so it asks Foxconn to manufacture some of its products in Vietnam.

Apple wants to minimize the tension between the United States and China over the trade battle according to some sources cited in Reuters. Foxconn already has several assembly lines in Vietnam's Bac Giang province, so possibly by mid-2021 these lines will be fully operational outside of China.

This is what Apple has been asking the Foxconn company for months and is that the tensions between the United States and China are now calm but they have been harsh in recent months. Foxconn, Pegatron and Compal Electronics, are gradually establishing their bases for the production of devices in Vietnam and is that Apple and the rest of the technology multinationals want to reduce dependence on China.

A clear example is Samsung and is that the South Korean firm is quite established in Vietnam for a while and there the company manufactures half of its smartphones. On the other hand, it is not something that can be done from today to tomorrow and taking Chinese production to Vietnam in the case of Apple will not be easy but little by little they are getting it. Another report indicated not long ago that the Cupertino firm is struggling to expand iPhone production in Vietnam, although the company appears to be at the expense of improving worker conditions at provider Luxshare-ICT facilities.
