Oprah explains why she stopped supporting the documentary about sexual abuse in the record industry

Oprah Winfrey

Oprah says so, she goes to mass. At least that is what many users think about this veteran journalist who currently focuses its efforts on Apple TV +, rather than in his own production company, since allows you to reach a much more audience.

A few days ago, we raised you with the news in which the popular presenter ignored the documentary that denounced sexual harassment in the music industry, documentary that she herself endorsed a couple of months ago. Oprah stated at the time that she had come to the project when it was in a very advanced phase.

Upon arriving at this project at such an advanced stage, it has not been able to confirm 100% that the situation reported in the documentary is completely true especially in relation to Russel Summonsh, one of the founders of today's most important hip-hop record label.

As we can read in the CBS article after interviewing Oprah about this matter:

Winfrey explained that it was "a difficult decision" to walk away from the film because she knew it might seem like she was giving in to pressure from Simmons, but that before he pushed her, she had expressed her concerns to the filmmakers.

"I had told them, 'Houston, I think we have a problem here' because new information had come in," he said.

Winfrey said she thought they needed to withdraw from the Sundance Film Festival, where the documentary is expected to premiere on January 25, and that if they couldn't, she would remove her name.

Oprah claims in the same interview that she doesn't want to put her name on something she has no creative control over. And since I had doubts about the documentary, decided it was better to walk away, so it will not be in the Apple TV + catalog.

I don't care about the awards, I only care about doing it well, and I think there are some inconsistencies in the stories that we need to analyze. I wanted the context of the story to be expanded, I wanted more women to be brought into the story.
