Apple patch to fix spam on iCloud.com Calendars

Beta Notes-icloud.com-os x 10.11-ios 9-1

A couple of weeks ago we reported a news related to spam through the invitation to calendar events on our iCloud calendar. This spam is not really harmful to users in terms of personal or similar data, but it is something annoying that many users have reported to the Cupertino firm. In the previous article we talked about the option or steps to follow if you are one of those affected due to this spam, now Apple starts its own defense against this attack and launches a small patch to temporarily solve the problem until the next version of its operating systems arrives.

The system implemented by Apple is very simple and is to add a button to select this type of invitations as spam. In this way when we select this event as spam, Apple itself is responsible for moving that invitation to the trash avoiding user interaction so that no more advertising of this type reaches us. It is evident that this is a patch as a filter for those users who are affected with this problem, but the final solution will arrive with the new versions of macOS 10.12.2 Sierra and iOS 10.2 that we hope will begin to arrive this week by seeing the pace of beta versions these days.

On the other hand we have to warn that this method launched by Apple only valid for iCloud.com online, so we can't do anything from our Calendar app for macOS Sierra and iOS. Spam, as we have mentioned, is related to invitations through advertising to Ray-Ban, Oakley, Louis Vuitton and Chinese stores, etc. Hopefully this type of "problems" will not be repeated in the future since users have nothing to do with the entry of this spam to our iCloud calendar.
