PhotoScape X is updated with support for HEVC, new tools and filters

On some occasion we have told you about this fantastic application to edit photos. Those who do not know it, are halfway between Photos in macOS and a professional program such as Photoshop or Pixelmator Pro. Even so, for the vast majority of users, it has nothing to envy as it more than fulfills its mission.

The application, which has just been updated to version 2.7.1, has features that make it almost essential on our Mac: integrates into Photos as an extension, being able to take advantage of most of its functions and has a free version and functions within the same payment.

These functions give way to the Pro version. But from the free version, we can perform the vast majority of functions: edit the photo, create a collage, combine photos or make a GIF, work with screenshots, among many other functions. Perhaps one of the options that I like the most about this application is to have at all times a button that by pressing it, we compare the original with our setting. For today's SLR camera users, the processing of photographs in RAW format is also available.

As we anticipated, it is an application that is constantly updated, adding new functions. In the version presented this past week, we count as the most remarkable the full compatibility with macOS High Sierra, adopting the new Apple formats for photography HEIC and HEVC.

But the news does not end there. We have a new tab that brings us the lasso, brush and magic erase functions. By selecting a part of the image with the first two, when clicking on the second, that part of the photograph disappears. This function is perfect for inserting that object into another image. Other better ones are:

  • Improvements to the steps to create Collage.
  • Added the filter: magic color, which is an automatic option to find the most realistic color possible.
  • Added 11 new brushes.
  • Added 21 new wide brushes.
  • New filter for repair color.
  • New manager for skins.

PhotoScape X is available on the Mac App Store. We emphasize that it does not have a subscription model so far. But if you want to enjoy a new Pro function, you can buy them individually, at the unit price of € 1,09 or purchase the entire Pro version at a price of € 43,99. If you are one of those who like to modify photos, try PhotoScape X as its large number of functions will surprise you.
