Popcorn Time faces legal problems

popcorn time problems

No hace mucho que mi compañero de SoydeMac, Pedro Rodas, spoke to us in a post about the application for Mac and PC, popcorn Time, an interesting application that allowed us to play a large number of movies in HD quality using torrent files. The interesting thing about the application is that it is not necessary for us to download the movie file since we will be able to see it online.

A somewhat complicated practice ... After all, the issue of watching movies online without paying is still an illegal act, that is, piracy. Obviously it is not something that people who make these films like, much less the big producers, the majors North American (Sony, FOX, Disney, Warner, Paramount, Universal). And is that It seems that the problems will not take long to reach the offices of the Popcorn Time developers.

The alarm went off when last Wednesday the application download link was blocked, it disappeared from Mega. Something that was quite contradictory since Kim Dotcom himself spoke about the virtues of Popcorn Time through Twitter. Later, when the networks went into a rage, Dotcom said that he did not know what had happened.

Yesterday, March 13, the application was available again through Mega to the surprise of all who wondered what had happened to Popcorn Time.

Of course, not everything is good news since Popcorn Time's own developers have announced on various networks that they expect to receive a complaint from the Motion Pictures Association of America (MPAA), a copyright entity that basically controls the majors.

Una open source app that they will likely leave under the control of their users since they can face millionaire lawsuits in addition to possible jail sentences.

We will see how this whole soap opera ends ... But the truth is that the piracy problem should find some solution since it is unethical to 'all free'.
