Razer makes its external graphics cards compatible with macOS

In recent months, we are seeing a race from external graphics card manufacturers. Apple has opened a gap so that the sales of these components are compatible with Macs. All those users who require power to develop applications or edit photos or videos, but do not want to sacrifice portability, have found a vein with these graphics.

The latest manufacturer to support macOS is Razer. From now on, certain models of the manufacturer allow us to connect them to our Mac and take advantage of all the graphic power. For it, You must have the latest version of macOS High Sierra, 10.13.4, and a MacBook Pro from 2016 or later.

According to Razer, compatibility is guaranteed for the Core V2, high-end model from the hardware manufacturer. This model has a market price of € 520. If you don't require so much power, a new model has just been released, the Core X, compatible with macOS at the price of € 300. The connection to the Mac is made through the Thunderbold 3 port.

Really what we have at our disposal with the Core X is a Thunderbold 3 box, which allows to introduce a wide variety of graphics. Any type of graph can be entered in the Core X box. To use this graph on macOS, an AMD model is required.

GPU in macOS High Sierra

One of the great doubts when it comes to acquiring an external graphic is the need to occupy a port, which can be used for loading. In this case at least, Core X box has 650W internal power capable of powering both the graphics card and the 15-inch MacBook Pro it connects to.

Another strong point of this box is the ventilation capacity. Its structure is made of aluminum and the ventilation of the box is more than sufficient after several hours of use of considerable demand. The graphic located on the box Core X, is compatible with the Mac screen, but also with an external screen connected to our Mac. In case it was not necessary, we have HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI ports on the back, for a direct connection to the graphics.
