We have talked a lot and will be talking about the replacement of the input ports of the new Macs by USB-C ports. There are pros and cons, and there are more and more advantages reported by users, in relation to the inclusion of this modality.
One of the arguments of the detractors of this inclusion is the criticism of the company, wanting to profit from the additional sale of adapters and cables compatible with this option. Well, nothing is further from reality, as we will know below why Apple does not promote this type of connection.
One of the main reasons is that Apple is not the creator of USB-C, was created by the USB Implementers Forum, a non-profit organization that at the time, developed Universal Serial Bus back in 1995.
It is true that Apple is a member of the USB-IF, the USB-C driving association, but it is not even part of the most relevant part of the organization. On the other hand, other well-known companies are at the top of the driving company: we are talking about HP, Intel, Microsoft or the chip maker STMicroelectronics. Therefore, the adoption of this connection was approved by an independent, non-profit board of directors that has no interest in Apple's success.
Much has been criticized Apple in the past, in relation to the use of its own technology, an example is the entries lightning, when the opposite happens: USB-C is a standard and therefore can be used by any company. What's more, you can buy and use cables from any brand, Apple guarantees you complete compatibility and quality of materials.
The reasons for use it is the thinness of the connection that allows to save space, the reversible connection, which can transmit power, data and video through a single cable. That the prices of Apple cables are higher than the competition, responds to a commercial action, but does not limit the use of the cables of the own brand.
The conclusion It is the incorporation of a new technology, lighter and with greater benefits, for a small outlay on cables and adapters. However, if you are not satisfied you can always buy a previous model, with other types of tickets. In my case, I would bet on the new as it provides more benefits.
