Charging the 12-inch MacBook in the car?

MacBook 12 29w car adapter

Once again I rewrite an article in which I try to alert all those users who have crossed their minds to acquire a certain unofficial charger for their 12-inch MacBook. Before commenting on anything I want to make it clear that I do NOT advise you to buy these things without first you are completely sure that it is compatible and that it will not give problems to your equipment.

A 12-inch MacBook is powered through a USB-C port of 14,5 volts and 2.0 amps maximum in the case of my model which is the A1534. It seems that depending on the different generations this information varies.

That said, on more than one occasion I have encountered the problem that I have run out of battery and I do not have the possibility of having a plug nearby to continue working. I have the car and its cigarette lighter socket. Many are the devices that are capable of working with the 24 volts of the car battery and is that, for example, I can recharge my DJI drone batteries in the car and the voltages are higher than the MacBook needs.

MacBook 12 car adapter

For all this, I do not think there is a problem in which the 24-volt car battery can recharge the MacBook, the problem is in how we are going to charge it and with what adapter we are going to do it. I've been searching the net and I have found one that has an acceptable price but once again, you have to be clear that If you risk using this type of adapter that you really don't know if it meets quality standards, you can jeopardize the integrity of your MacBook and especially yours.

So if you were thinking of making a purchase like this, make sure first that everything is going to be compatible. Are you a user who already has a charger of this type? Have you got any other option that you want to share with us?

P.S. I have not talked about laptop batteries because I wanted to focus on this option and not on having a charged battery that can charge the MacBook.

    1) The sockets of normal cars are 12V. The 24V ones are often seen in trucks.

    2) There are loads of 12V to USB adapters that give 2A and are from perfectly reliable brands at a good price.
