Removed Apple TV Remote app to control Apple TV

Apple TV

Apple TV Remote was one of those applications that Apple had in its catalog of available but that really nobody or practically nobody was using already. The Apple TV control options from our iPad or iPhone appear natively in the system, so having an app in the application store is no longer necessary.

So Apple has removed all references to the Apple TV Remote application in the app store and now we can only control from the tool that is added to the devices and that is usually within the Control center of our device.

The Remote function is fully integrated in the new versions of iOS and iPadOS, so it is not necessary to maintain an app specifically for this function. In fact from 9To5Mac they warn that Apple had not supported this app for a long time and that therefore it is not at all strange that they finally removed it from their catalog of available apps.

This application performed the same task that we can do today with Remote from iOS 12 onwards, so it does not make sense to also keep the app in the store. In any case, it is about having in our hands a remote for the Apple TV but in this case totally tactile.

On the other hand, we have to mention that we do have available today iTunes Remote, an app that allows us to remotely play songs and videos on an Apple TV or Mac. In this sense, we do not believe that Apple will eliminate this application that today is still available totally free in the App Store.
