The new MacBook Air retina brings many new features, but some of them are not easy to see. To find them we must enter the design of this new Apple model. After disassembling this equipment by iFixit, we discovered significant changes to the interior design of this new Mac. This time it is more modular if we compare it with predecessor models.
What it implies is that In the event of failure of one part of the equipment, it will not be necessary to replace more than this part, and not other parts that are welded to it, as is the case with the latest MacBook Pro.
We see a streamlining of the interior, with less "DIY", fewer screws and, in general, an easier machine to repair, in less time.
The difference is found in the upper box, which is around the keys, the trackpad, that is, the part where your wrists rest. In the MacBook Pro, in this part, we also find the speakers and battery elements. In the MacBook Pro, having more hardware in the same space, requires a structure of some elements on top of others. On the other hand, in the new MacBook Air retina, this part can be separated by components, allowing to replace only a damaged part.

The battery and trackpad remain independent and can be ordered from Apple separately, from the top box. There is no Touch Bar so there is no need to replace the entire top case in case there is a Touch Bar problem.
In this laptop we find less hardware and elements with better replacement. For example, the battery is super with stickers designed to be easily detached.
What is unknown is whether Apple is working with this scheme in the design of the new Macs or on the contrary it is a specific design for the MacBook Air retina. Perhaps it is a solution to the Mac with the butterfly keyboard, to improve its replacement in case of failure. In addition, if something other than the keyboard is damaged, but is located near it, our pocket will thank us by having to pay for fewer parts. Well done Apple and go ahead with the strategy.
