In March of this year, Apple acquired the rights to the film The Greatest Beer Run Ever and was in the middle of negotiations with different actors and actresses to participate in the project. It was clear that both Russell Crowe and Zac Efron would. They would be reporting to Peter Farrelly. But more was needed and finally, the right participants have been found.
Forever, according to Deadline, The Greatest Beer Run Ever is now an Apple original and will feature the participation of Jake Picking, Will Ropp, Archie Renaux, and Kyle Allen. Joining as we have already discussed Russell Crowe and Zac Efron.
The film is based on the New York Times best-selling book The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A Memoir of Friendship, Leyalty and War by Joanna Molloy and John "Chickie" Donohue. The story follows Donohue, who in 1967 decides to leave New York and bring beer to his childhood friends who are serving tours of duty in Vietnam. Efron will play Donohue, while Picking, Allen and Renaux will play their friends Rick Duggan, Bobby Pappas and Tommy Collins. Ropp is cast as Kevin McLoone, another friend Donohue meets along the way.
Farrelly adapted the script for The Greatest Beer Run Ever with the help of Brian Currie and Pete Jones. Andrew Muscato will produce the film alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger by Skydance.
