Two days before the presentation of the new Macbook models, the Cupertino-based company has presented the financial results for the last quarter of 2016, corresponding to the months of July to September. During the last quarter the company has seen how their income has dropped to $ 46.900 billion while the benefits have also fallen compared to the same period of the previous year, standing at 9.000 million dollars. In the same period of the previous year Apple obtained a gross income of 51.500 million dollars while the benefits of 11.100 million dollars.
In terms of device sales, we saw something that analysts and Apple itself had already announced. Apple has sold 45,5 million iPhone in this last quarter while in the same period of the previous year it sold 48 million of them, which has meant a drop of 5%. If we talk about the iPad, it seems that the fall has stabilized a bit and the drop in sales has been located at 6%, going from 9,8 million in 2015 to 9,2 in Q4.
If we talk about the Macs, we see that the fall has been greater than the drop in sales had been predicted. Mac sales are down 14% in one year, going from 5.7 million units sold in the same period last year to 4,8 million units sold. The next results conference will be at the end of January and where we can see if the changes introduced in the MacBook Pro range allow to overcome the sales that the company has been losing in recent quarters.
If we break down the income by country, we can see how the profits obtained by Apple in the United States have fallen by 7, while in China sales have fallen by a spectacular 30%. In both Japan and Europe, sales have increased by 10 and 3 respectively.
