Speaker selection for our Mac

The speakers that come standard Macs do not usually stand out for their quality (especially those of a MacBook), so since we believe that good sound is essential to enjoy music, games and movies, below you have a small selection of affordable home speakers and some a bit more serious.

As input models you have the 2.0 GigaWorks T40 Series II speakers from Creative that offer 16W of RMS power. If you want to spend a little less money and have a subwoofer to cover the low frequency range, the A320s are your choice.

If you want to bet on design without abandoning the advantages offered by a 2.1, the Harman Creature III offer 15W of power to listen to music at low-medium volumes with quality.

Moving a little further for quality and sound, we present to you the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III. We are probably looking at the most beautifully designed computer speakers without sacrificing quality. The subwoofer offers 20W of power and each of the channels provides 10W.

Finally and for the most purists (we insist that we are dealing with domestic, non-professional speakers), the Bose Companion 5 connect to the USB port of your Mac, leaving the 3,5mm audio output free in case you want to connect a computer to it with optical input. I'm unaware of the power these speakers deliver, but I can say first-hand that their sound is rich and the subwoofer delivers punchy bass depth. They may be a bit expensive but it is worth the outlay.

If I had to choose from among all the ones I've put out, I would stick with the Harman Kardon Soundsticks III without hesitation and I bet they are the speakers for many of you right now.

I gave my girlfriend this Christmas a Panasonic SC-HC05 has a dock that can be hidden to connect an iphone, ipod etc ... and it has bluetooth with which you do not need cables to plug it into your macbook, (or any gadget that have bluetooth) it has a power of 40w and incredible bass (really surprising… better than many 2.1 systems), all in a very small and compact size price € 110 (Andorra)
