Several applications have problems with macOS High Sierra and APFS system

The file system change from HFS + to APFS presents a significant challenge for Apple. In most cases, the user is not encountering problems, if not the opposite. The system works smoothly and the improvements in the copy of files or in the start of the system, leave more than satisfied to the users. Let's not forget that teams with SSD disks must change the entire file format without changing the appearance of our team. But not everything is satisfactory. Adobe applications have numerous problems with the latest Apple system.

We are talking about Autocad, Illustrator CC and Acrobat Reader. It seems that the problem is not MacOS High Sierra, if not the APFS file system. Adobe for its part released a patch with mixed results, without finding a definitive solution.

Autocad in version 2017.0, it is totally incompatible with macOS High Sierra running in APFS format. In contrast, the recent 2017.2 version supports HFS + and APFS, but it still has to fix bugs with case insensitivity.

After consulting with the company's technical service, they tell us that the previous versions, 2015 and 2016, are not prepared for macOS High Sierra and at least for now, they do not plan to release an update to support the current operating system.

Users Illustrator CC report problems in APFS file system. Like Adobe's design program, the main problems arise with upper and lower case. Other users talk about problems starting the application, opening a file or creating a document. The company talks about an update that is on the way, without being presented as of this writing. On occasion, some users report problems with unsupported GPUs.

Finally, the long-time PDF reader and editor Acrobat Reader, it presents problems when you select an item in a dropdown and open it with Preview. If the action is reversed, from Preview to Acroba Reader the same thing happens. This action has been verified in macOS Sierra and the problem does not occur.

I have downloaded several adobe applications. At the moment in test mode. They cannot be updated. The update is disabled in all programs. The file system is APFS.

    Could that be the cause?

    Greetings.

    Hi, I'm Miguel.
I have had several problems with the Apple APFS system. I think that the highlights and shadows of this new file system have not been well accounted for, and especially "the shadows".
As a result of it came to light that in previous downloads two applications could be infected with a virus (OSX Proton), one of which is Folx and the other is Elmedia Player, (according to your article, I am a regular reader of your page) that of Folx la I had it installed and it worked fine, and I downloaded it when this came to light. (I don't know if I would have said virus). I formatted the Mac with OSX 10.13 (APFS) having also boot camp:

1st I could not delete the BootCamp partition (App BootCamp / Delete Windows) APFS does not recognize that it has a BootCamp partition.
2º When you want to reinstall Mac from scratch with a USB (pressing Alt). The USB could not start the installation system.
3º A «chestnut pilonga» the application of «Utillidad de Discos» is a mess it has with upper and lower case letters.

In short a very strange thing, this from APFS. What if ... What if ... that the system will go smoothly but ... there are certain things a little strange.

What do you think? Better to go back to 10.12.6 and wait? By the way, when you install from scratch or update, the system if it detects that you have an SSD, by default it converts / passes the file system to APFS, yes or yes, it does not give a choice, even putting "Mac OS Plus with registry".

    A greeting.
