An Apple patent shows content transfer by proximity

Patent-proximity-0

This patent specifically describes how through the use of sensors in the Mac and the device in question, any type of content hosted on the phone can be transferred without us having to perform any action on our part. The files destined for the transfer would go inserted from the portable device in an e-mail, word processor or any other type of application that the receiving equipment also had.

What is attempted is to ensure that the media transfer process of any kind from the portable device to the desktop computer, be as simple as possible for the user.

The system is practically automatic. The sending device, that is, the phone in this case, is detected by proximity by a second device and initiates media transfer pending, if it is determined that this is the action that the user wants.

The receiving unit, being a desktop or portable device, inserts said file transfer in a window with an open document or as an e-mail message.

The clearest example would be if we wanted to insert a graphic into a document open in the word processor. Instead of having to use a cable to be recognized as storage unit or launch a default program on both devices for wireless transfer, we would simply open the graphic on our phone and pass it near the Mac and it would automatically be inserted into the open document, without doing anything else.

What is described is the need for a transport protocol, mentioning NFC as the first option, being also valid any type of sensor, camera or Bluetooth. The software would be integrated so that the system determines by itself that this document, image, graphic or video must be inserted in the appropriate program that is running at that moment in the receiving equipment, otherwise it should make a selection to ask the user.

Of the many patents that come to light, I think this is really interesting because of what it raises at heart, the ease of use.
