Apple officially announced the Small Business Program, a new program for developers that reduce your commissions in the App Store by 15% for all small businesses with annual revenues of up to $ 1 million.
This could be a movement considered by many as "populist" or "facing the gallery" but it is that Apple has recently had serious problems with this percentage that charges developers to be on its application platform. Well, we all know the details about this, so let's see more details of this program or campaign called by Apple as, Small Business Program.
At the beginning of December all the complete details of this new campaign will be known, offered by Apple for developers, The criteria for participating in the program are simple and clear:
- Developers already present in the App Store with revenues of 1 million dollars or less in 2020 for all their apps, as well as new developers, are eligible for the program and the reduced commission.
- If a participating developer exceeds the $ 1 million revenue threshold, the regular commission will apply for the remainder of the year.
- If a developer's business falls below the $ 1 million threshold during a calendar year, they will be eligible for the 15 percent commission the following year.
The standard App Store commission of 30 percent will remain in effect for apps that market digital products and services, and whose revenues are more than $ 1 million, understood as net income after the commission. Earlier this year, an independent study conducted by the Analysis Group concluded that Apple's commission structure is the most common on app and game distribution platforms.
