News that arrives today regarding AirPods. The blatant wireless headphones from the Cupertino-based company have had a great reception in the market over the past year. But the news of a judgment suffered yesterday by a Florida citizen, keeps Silicon Valley-based engineers on edge.
Apparently, Jason Colon, an AirPods user who lives in Florida, was using his new headphones while playing sports at the gym when they suddenly began to malfunction and allegedly, according to his account, white smoke began to come out of one of them.
According to Jason, he got scared and left the device on one of the gym machines while he went to get help. When it came back, one of the headphones was found charred and totally destroyed. And so he told one of the media that echoed the news, in this case a television channel, Channel 8:
It was already like this. It was already busted. I didn't see it happen, but when I got there, it was already fried! You can see the damage that the flames have caused to one of them. "
Unfortunately, it appears that no one else was in the gym at the time, so it might be even more difficult to figure out exactly what happened. This report will be the first to talk about this kind of problem on Apple AirPods, and appears to be caused by a product battery failure.
As we know, other products have suffered similar problems and the cause in most cases has been a failure of the battery that they mount.
Apple is currently studying what happened, and will seek an explanation of what has happened, especially to avoid future incidents. Nevertheless, from the Californian company they send a reassuring message that it is just an isolated case and that the product, which has been sold massively, has not reported similar problems anywhere else on the globe.
