When we talk about Sonos speakers we are clear that we are talking about sound quality, a really good user experience and excellent quality manufacturing materials. In this case, the firm has just announced the new Beam 2, a sound bar that offers us a improved and more immersive sound experience, all in the same compact size as the Beam.
The new version of this Sonos Beam adds among many other new features: support for Dolby Atmos, as well as new streaming options for Amazon Music. It's about improving what we have and in this case Sonos did its homework with it.
These are some of the new features of this new Beam soundbar:
- 3D Audio with Dolby Atmos: Immersive sound technology that puts you in the center of the action, whether it's feeling airplanes flying above you, hearing footsteps moving across the room, or listening to the music around you.
- Enhanced sound, same compact size: With more processing power and new phased speaker arrays, Beam is now able to deliver two new audio paths (height and surround) without any design changes. And deliver a virtual Atmos experience that directs and localizes sound around the room. The speaker also supports HDMI eARC on your TV, so you can experience your favorite movies and games in high definition sound with support for new audio formats.
- A New Look: A new rigid polycarbonate grille that is precision-drilled allows the speaker to sound great and blend seamlessly into your home, all without changing the original size and shape.
- Easier and more secure setup: With just two cables and new NFC capabilities, the setup is seamless and will allow you to start enjoying sound in minutes. Just open the Sonos app and follow a few prompts.
- Sustainable sound: The new Beam features sustainable packaging, including premium uncoated kraft paper, a gift box made from 97% sustainable paper, and single-use foam free.
- New Audio Formats: Sonos plans to support Amazon Music's ultra-high-definition audio, which will allow listeners to hear lossless audio tracks up to 24-bit / 48kHz on their Sonos speakers, as well as Dolby Atmos Music, a format of immersive audio. Sonos also plans to add support for decoding DTS Digital Surround Sound later this year.
