Steve Wilson, one of the top managers of Apple Podcast, leaves the company

Steve Wilson

We've seen a lot of movement in the podcast world in recent years, but not part of Apple being Spotify the company that has moved the most and has managed to surpass the Apple podcast platform thanks to the purchase of a large number of platforms with exclusive titles and the signing of important personalities from the world of podcasting.

However, it seems that Apple has finally realized the abandonment to which this platform was subjected, buying various podcast companies, however, it seems that it is still not enough, at least for those responsible for Apple. Steve Wilson, the Apple executive in charge of the Apple Podcast, has announced his departure from the company.

QCode has announced that it has signed Steve Wilson, who will be in charge of acting as director of strategy in the company, according to the publication Variety. QCode is a podcast studio that has grown tremendously in the United States producing exclusive and narrative podcasts.

Wilson, who has worked at Apple for the last 15 years, leading the Apple Podcast marketing team, has joined the company to create new projects for this platform. According to the CEO of QCode, "Wilson has been responsible for shaping and strengthening the podcast industry for many years at Apple and we are confident that he will help take QCode to the next level in podcasting."

Prior to signing Wilson, QCode has recruited a large number of industry professionals to enhance their productions. Interestingly, Apple nominated QCode's Ghost Tape podcast a few days ago, as one of the best podcasts of the year 2020. Some rumors suggest that Apple could create a podcast payment platform (just like Spotify is considering).

Many of the podcasters that got started on the podcast did so through the Apple platform, however, they were forced to abandon it when his project had already grown by not offering Apple a monetization method, something that most podcast platforms that we can find in the market do include.
