In an interview with the English television network with the BBCSteve Wozniak, affectionately nicknamed "Woz" by some, has expressed his opinion about Apple's situation with Tim Cook at the helm and how he sees his more direct competitors such as Microsoft and Samsung in their current situation.
As he explained in the interview, he believes that Steve Ballmer (CEO of Microsoft), who has announced that he is leaving the position shortly, has been a influential person in the Redmond company but not at the level that was, for example, Bill Gates and that they have had a lot of time to evolve but have taken steps forward "They have rested on their laurels"Wozniak stated categorically.
He thinks that comparing Apple with what has happened to him and is happening to Microsoft is a serious mistake since he still considers that Apple still has that innovation point that Microsoft does not own although its market is broader.
Steve Jobs had very clear ideas about what should make a company great and that is to make very good products. He's more or less settled on Tim Cook to play that role, in that position. Everybody says something like, “Oh my gosh, it's been two years and we need something really great new from Apple… Well yeah [laughs]. The great advances of humanity do not happen every year.
He also had words for the South Korean giant Samsung, which he praised, giving it great value due to its foray into many markets in which Apple was not previously present since it only had the Macintosh as product worldwide, and that on the other hand, Samsung has managed to become the largest manufacturer of smartphones in the world referring to the fact that its distribution channels are greater, he ends up saying that there is a fight between the two, but that it will be a worthy fight.
