When Apple announced that it was canceling the AirPower charging base for later, almost two years after officially introducing it, many were the subsequent rumors that suggested that really the project had been delayed with no date, when technology allowed to implement Apple's idea without heating problems.
The latest rumor related to this project suggests that Apple has finally scrapped the project. This information comes from Jon Prosser, who claims that both the prototype and the testing programs have been canceled indefinitely. The sources he cites, from the company, claim that the project has been canceled indefinitely.
All AirPower prototyping/testing has been removed from the schedule for 2021.
Sources doubt that it'll ever be picked back up again.
Seems like once again, AirPower is dead.

Apple announced in 2017 the AirPower Charging Dock, a charging dock that allows charging the entire ecosystem of Apple's mobile products placing them on the charging base in any position. The images that Apple showed, allowed to charge up to 3 devices together, including the Apple Watch.
After multiple delays, Apple announced the cancellation of this project in 2019, without confirming the reason, but some sources pointed out that did not exceed safety requirements that Apple has established, because during the charging process, both the charging base and the devices that were charged, became excessively hot.
A year later, rumors related to this charging base began to appear, pointing to it Apple had resumed the project creating new prototypes since it had solved the heating problems by incorporating the A11 processor for energy management.
MagSafe charging system is likely lApple's alternative to the AirPower charging base. MagSafe allows you to charge the iPhone wirelessly with a power of 15W and also allows you to attach cases, wallets and other accessories that will arrive on the market in the coming months on the back.
