As everything has been moving to the cloud and the use of physical media has decreased, the eject key on Mac keyboards has become essentially useless. However, a new application from developer Dave DeLong aims to add functionality to the key and Touch Bar of your MacBook Pro.
We are talking about the Ejector application, an application that turn your Mac's eject key into a hard drive utility. With the Ejector application installed, you just have to press the eject key on your Mac keyboard to see a list of all connected volumes including external drives, disk images, network drives and partitions.
Modern Mac Laptops do not have an eject key, but the Ejector application takes this into account as it includes a handy button on the touch bar of your MacBook Pro, which makes it easy to access volumes. Once you have pressed the eject key or the touch bar icon, you can eject any macOS drive, or force its ejection if it is a drive that you do not want to be ejected from your computer.
I'm pleased to announce Ejector, an app that gives new purpose to your ⏏️ key. Without a CD drive, this key does nothing; now it shows all your mounted drives and volumes and helps you eject them.
The app has a 7 day trial, and costs $ 10https://t.co/EIkS8O5x1O pic.twitter.com/zRuSZ9Sfm4

To this day, Apple continues to sell the Magic Keyboard with the eject key, although does not sell any Mac with optical disc drive. Thanks to the Ejector application, the eject key takes on a functionality again and is no longer one of the forgotten keys on our keyboard.
Ejector is available for download via this link. For 7 days we can test the application for free. After that time, if we want to use the application we have to go to the cashier and pay the $ 9,99 it costs.
