New Trojan Hits Non-Jailbroken iOS Devices in China

iOS has always been characterized as a completely closed system in which unless you jailbreak, it is almost impossible to install third-party applications without passing the filter of the App Store. Normally many users jailbreak to be able to install the official tweaks that Saurik offers us in its application store, which, as far as possible, offers us some peace of mind. But there is also a small group of users who they mainly use it to install unofficially downloaded applications and to be able to enjoy them without having to pay a single euro. This practice usually has many risks and especially those that affect the theft of data from the device.

But if you don't jailbreak, you know that you can be calm but not completely, since This is not the first time that a worm, malware or Trojan has found its way onto iOS devices installed and no jailbreak. This time the problem has again originated in China, where a new Trojan named AceDeceiver has been detected that is affecting non-jailbroken devices.

Apparently AceDeceiver is infecting iOS devices by taking advantage of Apple's DRM system. This Trojan uses the FairPlay Man-in-the-Middle technique used on other occasions to install pirated applications through an application similar to iTunes. But to be able to access the interior of iOS, it is necessary to previously have an application officially installed on the device. These apps made it to the App Store in the form of wallpaper apps, but from within it provided an authorization code to hackers that they could use to activate AceDeceiver.

Asia Helper is one of many applications that allow us to make backup copies, clean our iPhone of garbage ... but unlike the applications that really fulfill their function allowing us to do this type of task, Aisi Helper installs malicious applications on devices that connected to the computer. This application requested both the Apple ID and the password to later send it to the hackers who have developed AceDeceiver.
