Impressive, is the first word that comes to mind after seeing the published renders on the Chicago Tribune website. The new Apple Store that would be projected on the north face of the Chicago River is a new store concept, taking a step further the simplicity of design in conjunction with glass, a material that Apple makes a lot of use in its facilities to create an environment as open and "transparent" as possible.

The report that has transpired this Tuesday, shows some representations of an open pavilion with a glass structure that makes it clear the new design trend As far as architecture is concerned, what is the company experienced?

A city administration source informed the Chicago Tribune of Apple's upcoming sales plans, meaning details that have been leaked directly from Chicago's Planning and Development department describe the store as "A crystal temple of personal computing ».

In the same report it is highlighted that the surface of the store will have about 1900 square meters and will be located on the north bank of the Chicago River as seen in the images.

For now the project is just that, an "elaborate sketch" presented to the administration, so there is still no company that has been assigned the construction and construction project tasks so the design may vary.

However, due to the general lines of the store and what can be seen in the images, there are many similarities to current Apple stores, that is, a main entrance pavilion with glass on the walls and a flat roof that partly reminds that of Standford 2 located in California.

When completed, construction should feature a street level entrance hall that would drop down to a floor right next to the river, having two large access stairs or an elevator for this purpose.

The design is rumored to be the brainchild of architect Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the same company in charge of designing the headquarters of Apple Campus 2 in Cupertino.

On the other hand, according to the report, the current owner of the property, Zeller Realty Group, is ready to present this proposal to the Chicago Commission on Thursday, although the gesture is no more than a mere formality since the commission gave its approval on Monday.
