Little by little and as users browse the specifications of the new MacBook Pro models, new information related to connections, operation, performance, components that can be expanded ... Apple has again decided to do without all the usual connectors in the new MacBook Pro models, so that now we will only be able to use those that are compatible with USB-C / Thunderbolt, since they share the same connection. It has only left the jack connection, despite having completely removed it on the new iPhone 7 models, something that many users do not quite understand.

As we can read in the specifications of the new MacBook Pro, the jack to connect headphones to this device does not support optical audio, it is a simple 3,5 mm jack connector. Again Apple has eliminated this option when it has proceeded to renew its devices, since in MacBook Pro models launched between 2012 and 2015 if they made it up. Additionally, Apple TV also removed the optical S / PDIF output, indicating that Apple is discontinuing support for this technology.

AppleInsider has contacted Apple to try to find out why the Cupertino-based company has decided to remove it. Since Apple say that fewer and fewer users use it so they have not seen enough reasons to continue offering it in the new range of devices, starting with the Apple TV and continuing with the MacBook Pro. Also, thanks to the USB-C connector, the user can connect any peripheral to the MacBook Pro to enjoy its music in professional audio quality. It is clear that Apple is leading the way it wants us to follow, forcing us to do so without giving us alternatives.

In other words, if you have spent more than € 3000 on a sound system that only goes with an optical cable, because it is old, now you have to change it because Apple has decided to save 1 euro on the connector. okay, very good.
