This news, which is not a rumor, comes from the latest patent that Apple has registered at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
According to this patent, the new command that would arrive the next generation of Apple TV allowed the user point to another device, such as a television or a stereo, to control it remotely, as if we were doing it directly with the device's own control.
This same patent also talks about the connectivity features that could be implemented in an iPhone with the same chip and that currently does not offer, such as the possibility of display a custom interface and relevant accessory information without requiring the user to interact with the device at any time.
