As always from Kickstarter we get quite a few interesting projects with financing needs and Oscar is one of them. This kit, which acts as an adapter, is based on the free Arduino hardware platform and will allow us to have the LCD of the iPad Retina as a secondary screen of our Mac.
To achieve this you can use both the port Thunderbolt as Displayport and in this way to get an image on a 9,7-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixel, which gives us a pixel density of 264 ppi, which is more than double that of a Thunderbolt monitor, for example. 27-inch display.
OSCAR is an adapter that allows you to connect a 'very high resolution 9,7-inch screen often found on tablets to your computer. It comes pre - connected to the LCD panel and is ready to be connected, it is compatible with all operating systems that use a Thunderbolt or Displayport connection. The board is Arduino and it makes modifying the behavior of this adapter easy as all the software and hardware is open source.
The Oscar Complete Kit includes an LCD screen that comes with an acrylic frame and stand, allowing you to be used as secondary display for a wide variety of purposes. The power adapter for the LED backlight is included and which in turn provides the power supply, if we add to this that Oscar is compatible with Arduino, the board can be used to control variables such as the brightness of the backlight via USB .
To get the complete kit we will have to invest in the project 195 euros or more. You can access the project page on kickstarter from this link.

And wouldn't it be better to send the signal from the mac directly to the ipad instead of having a loose screen with no speakers or anything?
the problem is that the ipad does not have a direct video connection, doing it through airplay works really bad for continuous use, as there is a long delay in reaction time.
