Mac mice are usually used without any type of mouse pad, and although I think it is the natural evolution it is also true that a good mat is really useful and sometimes good for the wrist.
The one you have heading this post is made of aluminum (the same as that of the Mac), making design and aesthetics not a problem when we put it next to the Mac that we have at home, and combining perfectly with any other element such as the Apple Keyboard or the Magic Trackpad.
The price is somewhat high for a mat, since it costs 35 dollars (it is on sale, normally it costs 50), but if the design matters to you I think it is worth it.
