The version of iTunes with access to the App Store is not compatible with macOS Mojave

With the launch of macOS High Sierra, Apple began to reduce the number of functions offered to us through iTunes, ceasing to allow the possibility of being able to access the app store to buy, search or download apps or games on our computer. Apple justified this move by stating that the new iOS App Store was the perfect tool for these tasks.

But Apple hadn't fallen for educational centers and companies that use their own applications that are not available in the App Store. This oversight forced the company to launch a special version, which had the same functions as the previous one, with which we could install, download, search and buy applications directly from our terminal. With macOS Mojave, that version doesn't work.

Apple made available to users a web page through which they could download this version for both Windows and Mac. But with the launch of macOS Mojave, this website no longer allows us to download the version of iTunes compatible with the App Store. The only thing that allows us is to download the version for Windows. Being a move that could come sooner or later, I was careful to save the installation file.

Unfortunately, when I went to install that version of iTunes with access to the App Store, the system won't let me install it, as you can see in the image that heads this article. When trying to install it, it shows me the message «This software is not compatible with your system«.

We do not know why Apple has stopped offering this version of iTunes. Regarding the end user, Apple does not care exactly what their opinion is, but with regard to educational centers or business environments, where Apple moves a lot of money, I don't think the Cupertino-based company doesn't offer an alternative to the disappearance of iTunes with access to the App Store.

Seeing the operation of the company in recent years, the disappearance of the download link of the iTunes version with access to the App Store may be a failure, forgetfulness or whatever you want to call it. What is clear is that if you cannot live without a version of iTunes with the App Store, if you are lucky enough to have it installed on your computer with macOS High Sierra (where it continues to work without any problem) you will have to wait for see which ones with Apple's future movements in this regard.

I tried to install that iTunes in the first beta of Mojave and seeing the calico the best thing is to bite the bullet and pull the ball, either that or stay with the high Sierra for a lifetime, the truth is that only Mojave's dark mode deserves the pain.
