These are the different versions of Office available for Mac

Microsoft office

Little by little, Mac users are getting more features and capabilities from Microsoft's office suite. We still find many differences between versions Mac and Windows versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, especially for the advanced user of these applications. If this is your case, surely you still want to continue with virtualizing windows, but if you do not have the need to squeeze the Office applications, you will surely opt for one of the following solutions.

This past week we learned about the possibility of subscribe to Office 365 directly from the Mac App Store and with it we have three ways to subscribe to the Office package.

Office 2019:

It is the most traditional option. Microsoft continues with license purchase model in this version. Therefore, if Office 2019 is compatible with our Mac, we can use it for a lifetime. The price of the Office package in this version are 149€ and we have access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The most complete version, which includes Outlook to the rest of the applications, can be found for € 299. In both options we have a licenseTherefore, we can only use it on one computer.

Office 365 (on the Microsoft website):

It is the novelty of Microsoft in recent years. Unlike the previous one, is a subscription model. We can purchase the service for a reduced price the first year, but this price increases after the first year.

The other relevant feature is the combining applications with cloud storage from Microsoft. In addition to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, we have 1 TB on OneDrive and 60 minutes of Skype calls per month. The price of this service is € 69 / year. If we want the same but count on up 6 users, its price is € 99 / year.

The download of applications is done from the Microsoft web store and they are updated automatically. What's more, Office 365 is cross-platform, to work on both the Mac and an iPad, for example.

Office on the Mac Store

Office 365 (on the Mac App Store):

It is the service that opens this week. The provision of the service is carried out through the Apple store, and the price is the same for the user. Another thing is the benefits that are shared between developer and distributor. Only, in the Apple version and at least so far, it is not possible to access the application betas. But we do not find any more differences so far. If you want more information about this version, we suggest you see the article de Soy de Mac about its launch.

    Hello,

    If there are differences ...
For example, the OneDrive version of the AppStore is much more stable and consumes fewer resources (although it continues to consume considerably more than the competition) than the "standalone" version downloaded from the Microsoft website, and they are the SAME version numbering.

    question
If I buy the € 149 Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) from the Apple Store, you say that "we have a license, therefore, we can only use it on one computer"

Do you mean that I can't use the license on all my Macs, which have the same iD from the Apple Store?
