This has been the evolution of the Apple TV controls

Apple has always been exquisite in the design of its products, well ... after Steve Jobs returned to the company after his absence due to the decision made by the thinking heads of the time.

With the return of Jobs to Apple in 1996, the innovative designs began, led by Jony Ive, the current designer of the products that we are seeing and that have always made a difference with other brands. In 1998 the first iMac was presented with a design that did not leave anyone indifferent.

However, in this article what we want to talk about is not about the company's computers and their designs, but about an accessory that over the years has modified its appearance and characteristics, the Apple remote control. This accessory started life in 2004 when Apple introduced the original Apple Remote alongside the iMac G5.

Its size was very similar to the iPod shuffle of the time and also made of the same material, white plastic. As you can see in the image that we attached, it was a remote control that had the buttons to go to menu, «OK», play / pause, forward, backward, volume up and volume down. This remote control worked with an infrared, being able to control the devices up to six meters away. One of the hidden features it had is that it had internal magnets that made it fit on the side of white iMac released in the same year.

This command was integrated into all the company's products that could make use of it, that is, they could be controlled by infrared. We can name the bases of the iPod, the iMac, the iPod HiFi and of course, in 2007 the first generation Apple TV.

At the end of 2009, Apple redesigned this accessory making it thinner and taller and this time made of aluminum with unibody technology, similar to the one that began to be used in the manufacture of iMac and MacBook that continues to this day.

The new peripheral was made of aluminum with black finishes, thus maintaining the aesthetics of all the new products presented at that time. However, the only thing that was done with this new model of Apple Remote was to change its design, maintaining all the functions it had until now, except having the possibility of magnetizing it on the side of an iMac, which was no longer logical. This command model, like the first, it still uses a button battery for its operation.

This second control model has been used in the following versions of the Apple TV presented, specifically in the Apple TV 2 and the two versions of the Apple TV 3. Now, six years later, the Cupertino people are redesigning the Apple Remote for the new Apple TV 4. Such has been its redesign that they have also decided to change the name that happens to be Apple Remote to Siri Remote.

Now the knob is a little wider and made of aluminum and black glass. Has internal battery It is recharged through a lightning port and has a touch surface on top with mouse click options in addition to five buttons. It is a logical evolution and it is that get Siri assistant to Apple TV 4 the command must have another button to invoke it other than a microphone that listens to us.
