It certainly seems that computer sales in general are not going through their best days. Apple is also not escaping from the sales drop this quarter and it seems that the financial results that are to come are not going to be the best in the field of computers.
The research firm Gartner is in charge of collecting this shipping data during Apple's 3rd fiscal quarter of this 2017 and the results obtained are not good. It is true that the estimates were no longer very positive if we look at the sales figures that were speculated, but in this case they have been confirmed and the computer industry in general suffers a significant slowdown in sales.
In this case we have two firms that present their figures: Gartner and IDC, if we look at Gartner's they explain that worldwide PC sales fell 3,6 percent year after year and in the case of Apple's Macs shipments compared to the same quarter of last year, attention, they have fallen by 5,6%. This is not good and is that Apple is the second company to fall so much this quarter, the first is Asus. We leave the graph:
This is an estimate and obviously we cannot say that they are official figures, but there is no doubt that computers are in a somewhat difficult quarter. On the other hand, the research firm IDC shows us quite different figures from Gartner, with a decrease in sales of 5% globally and a growth of 0,3% in sales for Apple computers. The worst thing in both cases is that total computer sales have dropped this quarter and this to a greater or lesser extent is the data that concerns us. Then there is the dance of figures from each of the firms, but ultimately this is something that we will check very soon with the Apple's official data for this quarter that will be published on November 2.
