Cook Meets Prime Minister of India: Possible Apple Factory in the Country?

Tim Cook Narendra Modi

Shortly after Tim Cook meet with the Chinese president, Apple CEO has met with the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi as expected. The  'Times of India' reported that the two discussed the possibility of bringing Apple Pay to the country, and Prime Minister Modi invited Apple to bring a factory India.

Tim Cook see positively the idea of expand to India, although it has not provided further details. We know that Foxconn has plans to build several factories in India, but none of the companies has confirmed which products would be made for Apple.

A short video was released but without sound.

India has trade laws that prevent to the companies open points of sale unless a certain proportion of the manufacturing takes place in the country. This is the reason why India does not have any official Apple store yet, but instead does so through third-party dealer network.

Cook also commented that he was willing to assist in the India Digital Initiative, which aims to make the public services are accessible electronically, and saw great opportunities for the Indian economy through app development, and everything points to a few 1,5 million jobs created in China.

Everything has its logic, if in addition to being able to sell your products directly in India due to the restrictions imposed by its laws, you can also get cheapen parts of the components you use, making the final product cheaper, although what I think is that it will make Apple get more benefit.
