TSMC is making a fortune thanks to Apple

TSMC

A river uprooted, gain of fishermen. That's the motto that should be on a wall at the chipmaker's headquarters. TSMC. With the world in turmoil over chip shortages, some big fishermen, like TSMC, are striking gold.

This manufacturer of processors as important as Apple A and M series, has just published some sales figures for last year, and the truth is that the numbers reflect spectacular profits. I suppose that the Apple executives will have received a good batch for Christmas from Taiwan….

The well-known manufacturer of processors TSMC has published some accounting figures for the 2020 financial year and the truth is that they are spectacular, taking into account the crisis that we are suffering throughout the planet due to the lack of supply of chips and processors.

The company has reported that it has had revenue growth of 24,1% in 2021 compared to the previous year. And keep in mind that a quarter of that revenue was generated by Apple. In the short term, this is undoubtedly great news, but dangerous in the medium and long term. 25% of TSMC's turnover is carried by a single client: Apple.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., apart from reporting such income, has also published that it has registered an increase in 16,4% in last year's fourth quarter earnings. With these numbers, the company has raised its revenue growth forecasts, which have now placed them between 15 and 20 percent.

TSMC has already started tests to start mass producing new 3nm processors, something that Apple is waiting for like rain in May for its iPhones, iPads and Macs of 2023. Without a doubt, the good work that TSMC has been doing during these years for Apple is now paying off.
