Everyone knows that Mac OS X has never been very fond of the NTFS system, and that although it supports it in Snow Leopard it is not exactly friendly to say, so it is normal to resort to other applications and drivers.
On the one hand we have the free ones like NTFS-3G, while on the other side of the scale we have the paid drivers, which promise us better performance, technical support and maximum security when dealing with our disks.
Tuxera is possibly the best of the paid ones, with full support for 64-bit kernels and a price that a normal user would not be expected to pay for something like this: 25 euros.
