Twiterrific and Tweetbot now support 280 character tweets

Last Tuesday night, Jack Dorsey announced the long-awaited new feature that allowed us to extend the character limit of our tweets to 280, so that users can have more space to express themselves, a space than with the previous 140 characters always they fell short on most occasions and it forced users to give up their attempt to post a longer than normal tweet.

Before starting to carry this new limit, Twitter carried out a study in which it was possible to observe as with Chinese, Japanese and Korean, the number of characters to express the same in Spanish, English, French and Portuguese was just half. Has it taken 10 years to realize it? Seriously? Fortunately the main Twitter clients, Twitterrific and Tweetbot have been quick to update the app to support this new limit.

Twitterrific has taken advantage of the update to add new filters to manage long tweets, so that only tweets with a higher number of characters or those that contain more than three lines of text are shown. For its part, Tweetbot has also taken advantage of the update to prevent blocked users from appearing as results when we perform a search through the application, whether for people, hashtags or content.

In case anyone had any questions, we can again check how using Twitter's own app on Mac is a waste of timeSince several days of increasing the character limit, the company has not yet updated its application, although if we consider the little case that it has always done so much to the App for Mac and Windows, it should not call our attention.
