Update Adobe Acrobat Reader to avoid security flaws

Adobe

This is what happens when you install a third-party application. You never know if it is safe, or what it does in a hidden way. In the end, you always end trusting on big developer brands, and we are more reluctant to install software from lesser known companies.

Adobe has found several security vulnerabilities in its famous PDF file viewer Acrobat Reader for macOS, and just released a patch to fix it. So if you have it installed, it is already taking time to update it.

Adobe has released a major update today. It has fixed 16 critical flaws in its Acrobat and Reader applications and a software development kit, which if used could lead to a complete control of a stranger on your Mac without you knowing. The only requirement to obtain this control is that you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your computer.

Have been a total of 36 vulnerabilities known to have been fixed in the update. These flaws include 24 critical and important flaws in its Acrobat Reader application, used to create and manage PDF files, as well as 12 in its Adobe DNG Converter software development kit.

These security flaws were discovered by the security researcher Yuebin sun from Tencent Security. The published shortly before the Adobe update. It is not known exactly when Adobe was informed of the security flaws by Sun.

The developer company reacted immediately. Adobe quickly communicated that it was unlikely that such vulnerabilities could have been used, but the concern is that if they had been known, the exploit would have allowed an attacker to use arbitrary code to obtain Mac access of someone without their consent.

Most importantly, Acrobat users patch their software. Although the update is for the version 2020.009.20063 or later, Adobe advises all users to open the application, choose "Help" and select "Check for updates."
