WhatsApp desktop

If you are one of those who usually use the WhatsApp messaging application on your Mac computer, You have to make sure that the version you are working on is 0.4.316.; Older versions have a security problem that can expose your data to prying eyes.

You already know that the application with the green icon is the most used but not the safest or the best of the existing ones. Through this application we can send many compromised messages and if you are using the wrong version, these messages may end up in the hands of those who should not.

Update WhatsApp on your Mac. Old versions have security flaws

Gal weizman, a security researcher has discovered that versions prior to 0.4.316. they have a security flaw that allows in which the answers could falsify the original text. The attacker can use the "reply" function to a message in a group conversation to change the identity of the sender. This can be done even if that person is not a member of the group, even using a text from someone else's answer.

Using this flaw, the researcher has "improved" it by being able to send a web link to a malicious page that is capable of executing code generated in Javascript. From there they could read files saved on the Mac.

Reading this news, what is clear is that WhatsApp it is not by far the best of the applications in this field and that We must be attentive to application updates. It is the only way to be able to be safe from these security flaws that also usually occur in obsolete or very old versions.

So check which version you are using on your Mac and if necessary immediately update to the latest to avoid this new discovered fault.
