Update to macOS 10.14.5 to avoid the ZombieLoad vulnerability present in Intel chips

ZombieLoad

Researchers have again discovered new vulnerabilities in Intel chips manufactured since 2011. These chips are found in Macs and therefore, intruders can access the information on our computers. However, this action is not simple and is intended to attack relevant people from different countries.

The researchers spoke to the magazine TechCrunch to communicate the detection of up to 4 errors. This group has been called ZombieLoad. As always we recommend updating, but this time more if possible to the version released by Apple yesterday, macOS 10.14.5 which corrects this problem, according to Apple.

In versions prior to macOS Mojave, we have a security update available that would correct the problem. The discoverers rated it with a severity similar to those found a year ago and known as Meltdown and Specter. If you want to know more information about this vulnerability, you can access the article published to the effect.

The operation of these vulnerabilities is similar. The intruder program get data from running processes in our team. For example, browsing history, user keys and passwords. The novelty of these attacks is being able to obtain data that is in the cloud.

This time, this vulnerability does not appear to have affected computers with ARM and AMD processors. Instead, let's remember that Meltdown and Specter did affect the main processors on the market. We leave you a video where the detected vulnerability is shown. On the other hand, we have not found claims of hackers who have managed to access the content of computers and have reported it to Apple.

The last vulnerability reported a downgrade of processor performance to prevent intrusion. In contrast, such a break in performance was not appreciated in the past vulnerability. Since the current vulnerability was stopped less than 48 hours ago in the macOS 10.14.5 update, a performance reduction could not be estimated. In any case, if we find performance analysis that provides data, we will tell you about it.
