Use the NTFS system in macOS without fear thanks to Hasleo

Normal way our Macs are not able to edit a hard drive in NTFS. Although there is a possibility to force it to do so, it is not certain that it will always work. In fact this system usually gives quite a few errors. But we always have third-party programs. Normally they are paid, but we bring you one, which is completely free and functional.

Hasleo NTFS is a really simple program to use and that is capable of making our Macs able to edit hard drives in the NTFS file system. The system designed by Microsoft It is capable of taking on large partitions, but in return it demands a lot of free disk space for itself.

macOS does not enable NTFS system editing

macOS does not have editing enabled on the NTFS file system by default, it is only able to read it. But it can be forced, although it is not very advisable because it is quite unstable and fails most of the time, and can cause irreparable damage.

Still if you want to try you will have to perform the following steps:

  • Open a terminal (you will find it in applications—> Utilities) Type the command 'sudo nano / etc / fstab'
  • Add the command 'LABEL = NAME none ntfs rw, auto, nobrowse' in nano and name the file whatever you want, replacing NAME with the name of the hard drive.
  • Press and hold control + O afterwards, to save the file or files and control + X to close nano
  • If the hard drive is connected to your Mac, disconnect it and reconnect it. Go to the Finder, click Go and select Go to Folder, and type '/ Volumes'.

Better than performing all the above steps is have a third-party program do the dirty work for you. If it is also free, all the better.

Has leo NTFS it will be in charge of creating a shortcut from the menu bar with which you can mount and unmount editable hard drives in that format. In this way you can always carry a Pendrive or USB memory in NTFS with you and exchange large files between Windows and Mac.

By default Hasleo, has the option "only detect NTFS volumes" enabled So if you want it to work with other types of formats, deactivate this option. At that time you will be able to work with volumes in HFS +, APFS, FAT and exFAT.

Hasleo has released version 3.0 which is fully compatible with macOS Catalina in addition to having added support for moving files between different directories and having corrected some other errors from the previous version.
