What can we do if our keyboard has one or more keys that do not respond?

In the new keyboards it is easier to know if the necessary touch is really being made so that these are failing physically or internally, but in any case there are many people who ask us what to do when a key stops working for no apparent reason and for this we want you to first of all follow this little tutorial or trick to advance to the advice of any genius.

Following the steps we will really find out where the problem comes from and that is that several factors are important in these situations, but the most important is be clear when the key responds to the click but does not write or does nothing directly.

Use the Keyboard Viewer to check if the keyboard keys

Before doing anything, what we have to see is if the key does not really respond, for this what we are going to do is pass the cotton test with the Keyboard Viewer. With this we will quickly find out if our keyboard works or not. To use the keyboard viewer we have to follow the following steps:

  • Select the Apple menu ()> System Preferences and click on Language and Region
  • Click on the Keyboard Preferences button and the Input Sources tab
  • Make sure that the language you use for the keyboard appears on the left side. If it doesn't appear, click

and choose one of the languages that appear.

  • Select the box next to Show the Keyboard menu in the menu bar
  • Click on the Keyboard tab and then select the box next to "Show keyboard and emoji viewers in the menu bar"
  • We select Show keyboard viewer in the Input menu

from the menu bar. The Keyboard Viewer showing the keyboard layout will appear on the screen.

  • We will press on the key that does not respond and we will check if the corresponding key lights up in the Keyboard Viewer. If so, the key works correctly

What to do when the keys are nailed

Be clear that it is not dirty by liquid or even by something that prevents the correct operation of the keys. For this we should never try to remove the key by pulling it, simply what we are going to do if we can is pass air to try to unlock it, if we can't, the best is stop hitting and take it to Apple or our nearest authorized reseller. Yes, the keys can be removed as you will see in the video below, but we do not recommend it:
