Can we use our AirPods on a plane?

Airlines are constantly evolving. The appearance of mobile devices caught them against foot, and at first they could not be used at any time during the flight. Subsequently the rule is being relaxed, since the new planes have technology to avoid interference from devices.

Therefore, if during a flight the need arises to kill time listening to music or watching a video on our Mac with the AirPods, it may not be a good idea. Most airlines prohibit the use of Bluetooth headphones, sometimes with very specific exceptions.

Air Canada, for example, allows AirPods to be used on short-haul planes and only above an altitude of 10 feet. We also know the example of Air France, where once the airplane doors are closed, the prohibition on the use of wireless headphones applies to all occupants. The airline said that portable electronic devices that generate data exchange, be it Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GSM, etc. they must be off during the entire flight.

To this day, flight passengers who use AirPods at the same time (or other device from other brands) they are scarce. This is one of the reasons why airlines do not consider finding a solution. Going back to the beginning of the article: it will take several months until it is compatible to fly with Apple Bluetooth headphones. Until then, we recommend that you carry our lifetime EarPods in your luggage.
