Windows 10 could include a feature like macOS Spotlight

Cortana update with Spotlight feature

If there is one of the functions that most characterizes macOS compared to other alternatives, that is Spotlight. This feature, which is present in Apple's desktop operating system, can search for applications, documents, images and even make currency conversions, measurement units or perform mathematical operations.

From Microsoft they know how important these functions are for the user: ease of use is always a plus to keep in mind. And if with a single function we cover different needs, then better. If we recently knew how Microsoft was working on a feature in true AirDrop style, now it has been known that in the next Windows 10 update users would have a new surprise.

The feature is currently only available to members of the Windows Insider program. And what would be developing Microsoft is a search function in the purest Spotlight style of macOS. The function is hidden, as they warn from the Italian portal Updates Lumia, which have been in charge of making known the intentions of the Redmond.

Spotlight function in Windows 10

Apparently, this would lead to a new way of searching and using Cortana (Microsoft's voice assistant). As we mentioned, user experience is very important today. And now, instead of a search box appearing above the taskbar, a complete window would open with which to search (by voice or through the keyboard) and the results would appear in the same window. That is, the same as it happens in macOS and Spotlight.

Likewise, in the same window there will be different tabs where to choose in which section of the Mac to search: All, Web, Documents and Settings (all this you can check in the screenshots that we attach to the entry). Finally, this new function will be invoked with the key combination "Win + S". In the video you can see this Windows Spotlight working at flat performance. What does it look like? Does it resemble the function of macOS?
